Champagne Castelnau Brut Vintage 2004
Champagne de Castelnau was founded in 1916 in Epernay and is named after General de Castelnau, "Le Sauveur de Nancy" (the Savior of Nancy) who led one of the battles of Champagne during World War I, Since taht time, the house has been known for its champagne mainly in France, but has not gained international recognition for both its quality and distinctive preparation. The house harvests grapes from more than 900HA, and uses only the first press "Cuvée". What makes Champagne Castelnau truly unique is the aging of the wine that is the minimum aging of 12 years on the lees!
The preponderance of Chardonnay from carefully selected vineyards sits guarentees a freshness which supports a wine of this age. Aging done by great care to ensure this blend achieves an amazing aromatic complexity.
Millésimé has a bright yellow color with an aroma of toast, pralines and grilled brioche. Lightly creamy, fresh citrus and with the power of Pinot Noir, gives this Champagne a delightful taste combination of minerals, toast, spices and plums.
